CRANLEIGH METHODIST CHURCH

The power of singing is an extraordinary thing.
It unites us and inspires us.
Join us for a very special evening of singing.
The concert will include community choir My Singing Group and solo performances from students of vocal coach Natalie Ross.
Expect an eclectic mix of styles and popular songs. Students have spent a lot time working on their songs and personalising them to showcase their unique vocal talents.
Help us support our chosen charity!
All money raised by tickets will be donated to Shooting Star Children's Hospices. They provide support across Surrey, SW London and NW London for families who have a life limited child or whose child has died.
Shooting Star Children's Hospices
Tickets are £5 online or you can purchase them on the door.
At the previous showcase in December we raised £400 for Rowleys Community Centre so help us double it for this important cause.
My Singing Group is a friendly and relaxed community choir based in Cranleigh.
The group meet on Wednesday evenings at Cranleigh Methodist Church.
We sing all styles of popular songs, from golden oldies to modern hits, across a variety of genres. Songs are learnt by ear, so you don’t need to be able to read music to join us. I accompany the group on acoustic guitar, adding another level of energy and creating a richer sound. I arrange and adapt the songs to bring out the best in our voices.
The group thoroughly enjoy singing in harmony and there is always room for solos and duets.
New members are always welcome. There are no auditions and we are a mixed-level group.
In each session I teach breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups and singing techniques that help improve everyone’s overall skills and knowledge, as well as enhancing the group’s ability and unity.
If you are interested in joining the group then email mysinginggroup@gmail.com

Each week I start the session with diaphragm breathing exercises vocal warm ups, which include pitching and ear training exercises. I then divide the group into smaller groups where we practice harmony with a variety of exercises. Once everyone is warmed up we work through the current song/s dividing the group into voice groups, simply 'low', 'mid' and 'high'. I aim to help each member feel comfortable and confident with where their voice fits in the group. Members can choose which voice part they want to sing and change parts at any time.

Singing in a group has been proven to boost your confidence and your mental health as well as being a wonderfully uplifting experience, and it’s a great way to meet like-minded new people and make new friends.
Singing is also very good for your health. Singing strengthens the immune system, improves breathing, helps with pain and significantly improves your emotional and psychological state, relieving stress and tension.

I started My Singing Group in Barcelona in 2015 where it successfully ran for 6 years. I ran two groups in the city. The group was made up of international people from all over the world. Singers of all ages met weekly to sing contemporary popular songs. The group brought the expat community and the locals together. It resembled a family vibe, and a place where people could share their passion for singing and contemporary music and make new friendships.
I started My Singing Group 'Cranleigh' in September 2023 and it has grown steadily as word has spread. The group consists of regular local members of all ages. Every other month after the session, we go over to the Richard Onslow for a drink to get to know each other.

New members offer - First session is £5!
That's one session at £5, from then on the normal session fee applies.
SESSION FEES
Members pay monthly at the beginning of the month. We run all year round, every Wednesday. (Except for 2 weeks at Christmas)
1. If you can't make any sessions during the month at all or you can only attend 1 session, then members pay £14. This is the flat fee to keep your membership in the group or for only attending 1 session.
2. If you can attend 2 sessions, each session costs £10, so that's £20.
3. If you can attend 3 sessions, each session costs £10, so that's £30.
4. If you can attend 4 sessions or 5 (for longer months), then each session costs £8. This is the membership scheme payment. By paying for all the sessions in the month you receive a discount. So that's £32 for 4 weeks or £40 for 5 weeks.
